Whether you are a local or an expat, these updates are here to create a better, more competitive job market for everyone. Curious about how these changes might benefit you? Let’s break them down so you can easily understand your rights.

Wages for Unused Leave

A landmark development in the preservation of rights through contracts, the Ministry of Human Resources of Saudi Arabia has reminded the workers that they are entitled to wages for unused leave at the time of resignation prior to taking it.

This allows workers to be paid fair compensation for benefits earned but not used and, by doing so, protects the interests of workers financially.

Paid Leave for Hajj Pilgrimage

For many muslims, Hajj is a once- in – a lifetime spiritual  journey. To support this, Saudi labour law gives workers the right to 10  to 15 days paid leave, including the Eid Al Adha holiday, to complete the pilgrimage.

However, there are a few conditions to keep in mind:

  • You must have worked for the same employer for at least two continuous years.
  • It is allowed to take this special leave only once duringwork under one
  • Thenumber of workers who can take Hajj leave in a year depends on the needs of work.
  • This policy balancesfulfilling personal obligation with the need to stay at work.

Compassionate Leave for Family Loss

Saudi Arabia consider family very much, especially during hard times. Employees are allowed five days of paid leave in case a close family member dies. This includes a spouse, parent, grandparent, child, or grandchild. To make things clear, the law defines

these family members as “ascendants” (parents and grandparents) and “descendants” (children and grandchildren).

Marriage Leave

Life’s big milestones matter too! Workers in Saudi Arabia enjoy five fully  paid days off upon marriage. It shows much care on the part of the kingdom toward the working class and supporting their family life.

Present Labour Reforms

Saudi Arabia is undoubtedly upgrading labor laws so it might become an even better place for both locals and foreign talent to work. To that effect, the labor reforms have done some great stuff:

Maternity Leave Increase

This policy now grants working mothers 12 weeks of maternity leave while increasing it from the erstwhile 10 weeks leave to have more time at home to care for family.

Trial Work Period

Now the trial employment is restricted to 180 days, so transparency among all parties and their safeguard.

Termination Notice Period

In case of dismissal of an open-ended service, the employees must present a notice of 30 days, and the employer has to present a notice of 60 days, thus equal treatment of the two parties.
These revisions prove that Saudi Arabia maintains work needs with the wellness of its workforce.

A New Future for Labor Protections

These changes work together with Saudi Arabia’s overall vision towards electronic and modernizing all forms of public services offered within the country. What they are doing is actually the preservation of workers rights on top of having business like processes that are visible for everyone. This transformation happens as part of developing this country’s labor marketplace and making it competitive everywhere on Earth

To Secure Labor Market Competitiveness

Emphasis on contractual fairness, leave policies, and smoother administrative processes continue to make Saudi Arabia a talent magnet. Saudi Arabia’s efforts are oriented toward creating a work environment where employers and employees gain through clarity and mutual respect
